LONDON (AP) — As the U.S. track team keeps winning at the Olympics, fired USA Track and Field CEO Doug Logan tells The Associated Press he feels "a certain sense of validation" for setting the goal of winning 30 medals in 2012. One reason Logan was released nearly two years ago was for having the audacity, in the wake of a 23-medal performance in Beijing, to say the U.S. team should win 30 medals at the London Games. "I feel a certain sense of validation that the direction I took and the way I did it was correct," Logan told the AP. The U.S. closed Friday's action with 26 medals and a reasonable chance to win up to five more — two from the relays and one each from women's high jump (Chaunte Lowe), men's 5,000 meters (Bernard Lagat) and men's marathon (Meb Keflezighi).
