The Sinkovic brothers came to the Rio Games looking for gold, and delivered.

Apparently, their father will be most thrilled.

Valent and Martin Sinkovic of Croatia won the men's double sculls competition on Thursday. The games started with a celebration _ Valent turned 28 three days before opening ceremony, and the Croatian Olympic Committee threw him a party replete with cake _ and ended with another, one that the brothers say will last a while.

"We are coming home in 12 days," Valent Sinkovic said, "and my father will still be drunk."

The brothers were part of a team that won silver in quadruple sculls at the London Games four years ago. Their gold was the second for Croatia at these games.
