RIETI, Italy (AP) — Valerie Adams won the shot put at the Rieti IAAF World Challenge on Sunday, breaking the meet record. Adams, who won her second gold at the London Olympics, threw 68 feet, 1¾ inches, beating the previous best of 65-3/4. Seven other London gold medalists took part in the meet. Russian high jumper Anna Chicherova was one of them, but she lost to compatriot Svetlana Shkolina. France's Christophe Lemaitre won the men's 100 meters in 10.04 seconds. In the men's triple jump, Italy's European champion and Olympic bronze medalist Fabrizio Donato had to quit after the first jump after picking up an injury. Benjamin Compaore of France won with a jump of 56-4.
