Simone Biles now stands alone in U.S. gymnastics history.

And she's far from done.

Her gold medal Sunday in the women's vault _ her third gold of these Rio Games, and counting _ is the 17th medal she's won in world championships and Olympic competition.

That's a new U.S. record, one better than what Shannon Miller collected between 1991 and 1996.

Biles (who has two more events in Rio) has not only the three golds here, but also has 10 golds, two silvers and two bronzes from world championship competitions over the last three years.

Miller had two golds, two silvers and three bronzes in her two Olympics, at Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996. She also collected nine medals at world championships _ five golds, three silvers and a bronze.
