The big hitter on the U.S. men's Olympic volleyball team is a big hit back home in western New York.

Family and friends of outside hitter Matt Anderson filled his sister's house in West Seneca, outside Buffalo, to cheer him on during the U.S. victory over Serbia Sunday in opening-round action in London.

The 25-year-old led the defending Olympic champions with 18 points as the U.S. swept the Serbs in three games. Anderson's mother Nancy was among the supporters back home. She says his father, Michael, was Matt's biggest supporter. Michael Anderson passed away two years ago.
