Olympic flame set to arrive in Brazil for torch relay

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The Olympic flame is set to arrive in Brazil, kicking off a three-month torch relay around the country that will end at the Maracana stadium when the games open on Aug. 5.

Carlos Nuzman, the head of the Rio organizing committee, will step off a plane from Geneva on Tuesday morning carrying the flame in a lantern.

President Dilma Rousseff is to receive the lantern at the Planalto presidential palace, igniting the torch to begin its journey around the country.

Tom Shields wins 100 butterfly at Swim Meet of Champions

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — Tom Shields won the 100-meter butterfly Sunday on the last night of the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions.

Shields, a member of the national team, touched first in 52.15 seconds in the tune-up meet for the U.S. Olympic trials in June.

Johnny Weir, Tara Lipinski to be Olympic correspondents

NEW YORK (AP) — Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski will serve as correspondents for NBC's coverage of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The network announced Monday that the NBC Sports figure skating analysts will explore Rio's culture, sights, sounds and fashion in August during the games.
