MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Former two-time world champion hurdler Jana Pittman hopes to compete for Australia at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in bobsled.

Pittman, who retired from track after a foot injury forced her out of the 400-meter hurdles at the London Olympics, has been working out three afternoons week in a Melbourne park under the supervision of Shane McKenzie, who competed in the bobsled at the 2006 Turin Games for Australia.

The 30-year-old Pittman, who trains by pushing a heavy cart she calls a "shopping trolley," hopes to compete as a pusher on the bobsled behind pilot Astrid Radjenovic in the two-woman event.

Pittman, who won world 400 hurdle titles in 2003 and 2007, says "I'm now having a genuine go at trying to become a Winter Olympian."
