SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — America's Cup challenger Artemis Racing of Sweden has released skipper Terry Hutchinson.

The syndicate provided no further information about the upheaval in the afterguard, the brain trust at the back of the boat.

Hutchinson, of Annapolis, Md., declined comment about the situation when reached by phone Friday night. Hutchinson had been with the syndicate since it was formed in late 2010.

In a statement, Artemis says its new afterguard features Iain Percy of Britain, Nathan Outteridge of Australia and Santiago Lange of Argentina, all Olympic medalists, as well as Loick Peyron, one of the world's most experienced multihull helmsmen.

Percy also will serve as sailing team director.

Outteridge won the gold medal in the 49er class at the London Olympics while Percy won silver in the Star class to go along with the gold medals he won in 2000 in the Finn and 2008 in the Star. Lange won bronze medals in the Tornado class in 2004 and 2008.
