Tom Bosworth of Britain leads the pack halfway through the Mens 20 K race walk last week.

Competing in the Olympics marked one of the biggest accomplishments in the life of Tom Bosworth. As it turns out, it wasn't the only major event for the British race walker while in Rio de Janeiro.

Bosworth proposed to his partner on a beach in Rio just days after finishing sixth in the 20K race walk. He posted a picture of the engagement on Twitter that showed him kneeling and proposing on a beach.

Bosworth came out as gay last year, saying "now is the right time."

Bosworth is not the first Olympian to get engaged during the Rio Games. Chinese diver Qin Kai surprised his teammate, He Zi, who had just won silver in the women's 3-meter springboard And Olympic volunteer Marjorie Edna proposed to her girlfriend _ Brazilian rugby player Isadora Cerullo _ on the field last week after a game.
