RIO DE JANEIRO -- United States golfer Bubba Watson attended the U.S. women’s field hockey team's match against India on Thursday night.

Watson, a two-time Masters winner, shot a 2-over par 73 earlier in the first round of Olympic competition earlier in the day before heading out to support the team. The Americans won 3-0 to remain undefeated.

Watson met the team at the Olympic Village on Wednesday, and he told the players he would attend Thursday's match.

Katie Bam, who scored twice against India, said she could tell Watson understood what the team was about. She was glad the squad put on a good show.

"He's loving it, we can see it, and the more people that start watching the sport -- they're going to fall in love with it too, especially with how well we're playing," Bam said.
