INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Leah Smith had two lifetime bests in the women's 200-meter freestyle Friday in the Arena Pro Swim Series, and Jay Litherland swept the men's 200 freestyle and 400 individual medley.

Smith, from Pittsburgh, became the eighth-fastest American in the 200 free, touching in 1 minute, 56.64 seconds. She swam a then-lifetime-best 1:56.66 in the morning prelims.

"I'm really happy with my two races today. I was pleasantly surprised with my 200 free this morning and just wanted to get faster tonight — practice going faster in finals," Smith said. "I'm really happy I was able to get two best times today."

Litherland, from Alpharetta, Georgia, won the 200 free in 1:48.41 and took the 400 IM in 4:13.93.

Melanie Margalis of Clearwater, Florida, was second behind Smith in 1:57.33 in the 200 free and came back less than 20 minutes later to win the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.26.

Nic Fink of Morristown, New Jersey, took the men's 100 breast in 1:00.13.

Also, Kelsi Worrell of Mount Holly, New Jersey, won the women's 100 butterfly in 58.12, Canada's Santo Condorelli took the men's 100 fly in 51.98, and Vietnam's Vien Nguyen won the women's 400 IM in 4:41.92
