Organizers of the Rio Games have a message for Michael Phelps: Start your latest retirement by going out and enjoying the Olympic city.
Rio Games spokesman Mario Andrada offered congratulations to Phelps on Sunday, one day after the U.S. swimming star _ and the most decorated Olympian in history _ competed for presumably the final time.
Phelps' last swim was one where he helped the U.S. win a relay gold, the 23rd Olympic title and 28th medal overall in his storied carried.
"As we conclude the swimming competition, we say goodbye to Michael Phelps, probably _ I mean certainly _ the biggest champion in the history of the games," Andrada said. "He went home with five extra golds and one silver. We hope he and his family have time to enjoy Rio."
Phelps also said he was done after the London Games, though he insists that this time the retirement plan is for real.
