John Cox made his cousin proud _ and Kobe Bryant knows about good basketball.
Cox scored 19 points Monday night for Venezuela in its 113-69 loss to the U.S. in men's basketball. The Venezuelans played the Americans to an 18-all tie after one quarter before the two-time defending champions broke way.
Bryant, who recently retired as the No. 3 scorer in NBA history, played for the Americans in the last two Olympics. He loved watching them _ and especially their opponent _ play Monday.

Cox played at the University of San Francisco before playing professionally outside the U.S. He joined a prestigious list as only the third former Dons player to play in the Olympics. The other two, Bill Russell and K.C. Jones, are in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
