RIO DE JANEIRO -- Sugar Ray Leonard tweeted a message of support for Shakur Stevenson moments after the American teen fighter lost his gold medal bout.

Robeisy Ramirez of Cuba won a split decision over U.S. bantamweight Shakur Stevenson in a tremendously competitive bout.

 

 

Stevenson started crying after the fight  and was consoled by family and friends.

Leonard, a gold medalist in the 1976 Montreal Games, sent a videotaped message and a tweet of support fot Stevenson that said the loss, "will make you a better fighter."
