DeeDee Trotter embarked on her pro track and field career in 2003. Since then, she's won two relay gold medals and the bronze in the 400 meters at the London Games, along with numerous other honors.
But now it's time to move on.
Hampered by injuries this season, Trotter failed to make the final in the 400 meters at the Olympic Trials -- meaning she has no chance to make the team for the Rio Games.
The 33-year-old joins friend Sanya Richards-Ross, who also ran her last race this week at Hayaward Field.
"I love y'all so much. Thank you!" she said with a peace sign and a smile on an Instagram goodbye.
