Several local fans who had been hoping to see Brazil in the women's soccer final were trying to resell their tickets ahead of the decisive game between Sweden and Germany at the Maracana Stadium on Friday.

Many fans outside the famed stadium were holding their tickets up and offering them for very cheap prices compared to what they had paid for them.

Brazilian fan Margarida Bertelli said she was willing to sell a ticket for less than half of what she paid before Brazil was eliminated, which had been almost $60.

It was a decent crowd inside the Maracana when the game started, although there were many empty seats visible at the venue which holds nearly 80,000 fans.

The hosts were eliminated by Sweden in a penalty shootout in the semifinals on Tuesday. Brazil also lost the bronze-medal match on Friday, losing 2-1 to Canada in Sao Paulo.

The men's final will be played at the Maracana on Saturday, with Brazil facing Germany.
